Soothing Star Anise Milk Tea Recipe

This soothing star anise milk tea recipe helps me warm up on a cold winter night. It’s aromatic licorice smell and warm sweet flavor makes me want to grab a second cup each and every time. If you haven’t tried anise milk tea yet, you are gonna love this recipe.

There are many benefits of star anise which I’ll be getting into in a bit but my personal experience with this tea is the effect it has on my digestive tract. Each time I drink this milk tea, I’m in the bathroom within 2 hours. It’s amazing for constipation and flushes out everything so make sure you’re not drinking this before going out.

NOTE: Only use Chine star anise to make your tea because other types can be poisonous. Chinese star anise has up to 8 pods while other types are up to 13 pods.

I’ve only tried this recipe with a sprinkle of cinnamon which I added immediately before drinking the tea and it tasted amazing. Besides, cinnamon has a ton of health benefits so I definitely recommend you try it as well.

Benefits Of Star Anise Milk Tea

Star Anise – has anti inflammatory and anti microbial properties that helps soothe upset stomach, reduce bloating, gas, and improves digestion. It also relaxes the gastrointestinal muscles and stimulates digestive enzymes making it great for constipation.

According to Very Well Health, star anise even has anti viral properties. Shikimic acid which is primarily found in Chinese star anise is the main ingredient in the anti-viral drug called Tamiflu. So this means that drinking star anise tea during the flu season can help with flu symptoms as well.

Almond Milk – is low in calories and lactose-free making it great for those with lactose intolerance. It’s also a good source of calcium, vitamin E and D. I also think the flavor is amazing when added to drinks.

Honey – is a great natural remedy for cold, cough, and sore throat. Thanks to it’s anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, antioxidant properties, honey is a healthy alternative to sugar and helps with immune support during the winter.

Who Should Not Drink Star Anise Milk Tea

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or allergic to star anise, do not drink this tea. Young children and infants should not be given this tea and people with hormone sensitive conditions like breast or ovarian cancer should not consume star anise.
