This cleansing vegetable detox soup recipe comes with a ton of flavors and is packed with healthy vitamins and antioxidants to help you reset and cleanse your system. It’s so easy to make and does not require a lot of ingredients so get out your spatulas and let’s get cooking mamas!

Since our digestive system is also responsible for helping the body get rid of harmful toxins, keeping it healthy by eating the right foods increases its functionality. (me trying to speak big words lol)! Back to earth, it’s true though, foods that are rich in fiber help your digestive system kick out the nasties!

This soup is very high in fiber and antioxidants so I really hope you try it! If you want more detox soup recipes, try these cucumber, fat-flush, kale, and spicy southwest detox soup recipes.

Cleansing Vegetable Detox Soup Recipe

This cleansing detox soup recipe does not contain carbs like regular soups which makes it easy on the stomach. The softened vegetables are easy to digest. However, you can add in some plant protein to make it more filling. I sometimes add a handful of precooked chickpeas, tofu, or lentils as a protein source.

Ingredients for 4 servings | Prep & cook time: 30 minutes

  • 1 cup of purple cabbage (chopped)
  • 2 cups of kale (shredded)
  • 1 small head of broccoli (divided into florets)
  • 3 medium carrots (sliced into rounds)
  • 4 celery stalks (chopped)
  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 1 cup of cherry tomatoes (cut into halves)
  • 1 inch of ginger root (minced)
  • 4 cups of vegetable broth (low-sodium)
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of ground turmeric
  • a dash of cinnamon
  • a dash of cayenne pepper
  • a dash of black pepper
  • a dash of salt (optional)
  • 1 lemon juice (freshly squeezed)

How To Make Vegetable Detox Soup

In a large soup pot over medium-high heat, heat the olive oil and saute the onions for 5 minutes or until slightly translucent. Add in the garlic and ginger, and saute until fragrant.

Add in the carrots, celery, cabbage, and broccoli, stir fry for 3 minutes, and mix in the broth, water, cover and increase the heat.

Let the soup boil for 10 to 15 minutes until the vegetables are softened. Add in the kale, tomatoes, turmeric, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt.

Lower the heat and let the soup simmer covered for an extra 10 minutes or until the kale is cooked through. Serve with fresh lemon juice.

How This Vegetable Detox Soup Works

Lemons are very high in Vitamin C which is a powerful antioxidant that supports the detoxification process. The cleansing properties of lemons will help you get rid of excess fluid and empty out your colon.

Ginger helps cleanse the body by stimulating digestion, circulation, and sweating. It also aids in removing the build-up of waste and toxins in the colon, liver, and other organs.”

Studies show that turmeric helps your liver to modify, inactivate, and eliminate toxins and excess substances produced by the body (including hormones).

Cinnamon helps reduce gut bacteria thanks to its anti-microbial properties. Adding cinnamon to your recipes also improves blood circulation, lowers blood cholesterol levels, and reduces inflammation. Finally, it helps you body excrete toxins.

Cayenne pepper not only adds a little spice to your recipes but due to its medicinal properties, it may aid in flushing out toxins from your body as well. Research suggests that cayenne pepper stimulates circulation and neutralizes acidity in the body.

How To Store Leftovers

I usually just keep this soup in the fridge for up to five days and make a new batch when I need to. Five days is more than enough to get those nasties out of your system. To reheat the soup, simply set it on medium-high heat for 5 minutes and it’s done.
