Say Goodbye to Dull Skin with This DIY Brown Sugar Homemade Face Scrub!

Here’s my favorite DIY brown sugar homemade face scrub recipe that I’ve used for years to exfoliate my skin. This face scrub recipe never gets old and although there are tons of variations around, mine is just 3 ingredients and works like a charm.

Before we get started with the recipe, I just want you to know that it is very important to always do a skin patch test before using home remedies.

It’ll help you decide if the ingredients are right for your skin or if you are allergic to them. To so a simple skin patch test, apply a small amount of the mixture behind your ear or inner upper arm.

If there is swelling, redness, or itching, it means that you are allergic to one or more of the ingredients in which case, do not use the remedy.

In a clean bowl, combine the coconut oil, honey and brown sugar and mix until all the ingredients are well combined. Apply it to your face using clean fingertips and begin to scrub gently in a circular motion.

Pat your face dry with a clean towel and use this face scrub once a week to avoid stripping your skin of natural oils.

Benefits Of Brown Sugar Face Scrub

Honey – is extremely moisturizing because it is a natural humectant, this means that it helps draw moisture into the skin.

Brown sugar – exfoliates the skin, removes dead skin cells, improves complexion, locks moisture into the skin thanks to glycolic acid, cleanses your pores, and stimulates collagen production.

Coconut oil – is packed with antioxidants and has anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, healing, cleansing, and anti-aging properties.

Who Should Not Use This Face Scrub

If you are allergic to coconut oil, have acne prone skin, seborrheic dermatitis, oily skin, or rosacea, do not add coconut oil to this sugar scrub.

Also, you suffer from eczema, psoriasis, or have open cuts or wounds on your face, you should not use brown sugar on your skin because it can aggravate the wounds.

How To Store This DIY Brown Sugar Homemade Face Scrub

To store your homemade brown sugar scrub, simply transfer the remaining of your scrub into a jar with a tight lid. Close the lid and put it in the fridge for up to a month.

Since this scrub does not contain fresh ingredients, it can be stored longer however, I recommend you always check your scrubs for molds when storing for long-term.
